Class Material

Now that the semester is coming to a end on my final post, I would like to talk about some of the class material that kind of stuck with me. I was never really knowledgable with the computer until taking this course. Since taking this course I now know what a blog is, how to conduct a blog, and how to put templates, links, and advertising sites on a blog. Also like I stated in my last post, I also feel very comfortable with wikipedia editing, Professor Brown has really helped me understand everything that there is with wikipedia.

This has been a big learning experience for me, and I will take this information with me in life. I hope this class has helped everyone else as much as it has helped me.

Wrap up of Jeff Samardzija article

When editing this article, I noticed that most of the changes that I made stayed. I think this is because most of Jeff's decisions about the future were made last year and a lot of people have said all they could say about Jeff. As he continue's is professional baseball career. I will continue to edit his article, because he is such an interesting guy.

All in all, this has been a very enjoyable experience for me with the whole editing on wikipedia. I never knew that anyone could edit any article, as long as they are a member.

Wrap up of Rhema McKnight

After editing Rhema's article I noticed that really nothing that I added or edited was ever changed. This is because, this is not a very popular article that people seem to look at. I found it more difficult to edit or add to his article, because I didn't have that much information about him. I probably will not continue to edited his article unless he goes to the NFL, where more people would know about him.

Commenting on Ryan Isbert's Blog

After looking over Ryan's blog, what really stuck out to me is all the pictures that he post when conducting an article. It may sound silly, but I really think it makes the blog look that much more professional. In the future I will start putting more pictures into my blog's, because I feel it makes that much more of a difference.

Commenting on Matt Corritori blog

After looking at Matt's blog I noticed after reading his wrap up on JaMarcus Russel, that he is a little discouraged about how most of his edits on wikipedia have either been deleted or edited. When one is editing an article that is very popular like JaMarcus one has to expect that there information is goin to be changed constantly. I also had Brady Quinn's article changed a lot as well.

Commeting on Ryan Dzielak's blog

After looking at Ryan blog, I found one article about search engines very interesting. He talks about how new search engines might affect google and yahoo. I believe that it may make a little impression, but in all reality it won't hurt either of these two sites. It's always a possibility, but I won't make to much of it.

By going to http://rdizblog.blogspot.com/ one can read even more about this situation.

Wrap up of Charlie Weis article

Almost all the information that I gave on Charlie Weis is still available in wikipedia. This makes me feel good, because it is information that I gave. I feel that his article is viewed a lot, but not as much as others. As long as I have information to give about Charlie Weis, I will continue to edit his article.

Wrap up of Brady Quinn Wikipedia article

After conducting edits over the past couple months, I have realize that some of my information is still available on Brady Quinn. Brady Quinn is an article that is heavily viewed and gets corrected very frequently. This is why I feel some of the information that I gave has either been deleted or edited.

It's been very interesting watching over Brady Quinn's article on wikipedia and crazy how so many people want to put there information about him on the site. I have enjoyed editing Brady Quinn and will continue to edit him in the future.

3 edit for Rhema McKnight

I finally made my last edit under Rhema McKnight. Under player profile I added on stating "Rhema McKnight had a superb career with Notre Dame in his five-years with them.

This information can be found by going to www.wikipedia.com and searching under Rhema McKnight.

3 edit for Jeff Samardzija

I finally made my last edit on Jeff Samardzija. Editing under his professional career and stating " After a tough decision on January 19, 2007, Jeff Samardzija decided to announce that he would pass by the National Football League Draft and commit his career to baseball. Jeff signed with the Chicago Cubs a five-year deal as a pitcher for $16.5 million in guaranteed money as long as he stays with them full-time.

This information can be found at www.wikipedia.com and searching Jeff Samardzija.

Commenting on Ben Gruber's Blog

As I was veiwing some of my classmates blog's I came across a post by Ben Gruber that really got me thinking. It's about starting your own business and how at the University of Delaware does not have enough classes available. I have to agree with Ben I personally am not to sure on how to incorporate a business, or what the neccessary steps are in naming a company. I hope in the future the university can do something about this and have an actual entrepreneurial class available for students.

3rd Wikipedia Edit on Charlie Weis

I finally did my last edit with Charlie Weis. I edited his early years changing it to "After graduating from Middlesex (N.J.) High School, Weis decided to attend the University of Notre Dame. This is where he earned his bachelor's degree in speech and drama in 1978.

By going to www.wikipedia.com and searching for Charlie Weis this information can be found.

3rd Wikipedia Edit on Brady Quinn

In my final edit about Brady Quinn I edited his NFL draft. Stating "Coming into the draft Quinn was considered to be one of the top players in the country and was invited to attend the draft. Before the draft started, the NFL Draft, labelled Quinn as a "franchise quarterback in the mold of Carson Palmer."[23] He was projected to be picked in the top ten and even could have been the number one overall pick.[24][25][26]

This information can be found by going to www.wikipedia.com and typing in Brady Quinn under search.

Commenting on Matt Corritori

Matt just posted about Search Engine Optimization also know as SEO. It's a way increase the number of people who use search engines, it also uses algorithms as a way to control search engine web-sites.

Search Engine Optimization has been talked about a lot in our class. It identifies relevant keywords, matches pages to keywords, and more.

By goin to http://mannyf.blogspot.com/ one might be able to get a better understanding on how SEO works

Class Material

A little while ago we talked in class about different types of Advertising on the web. Some of the different types of advertising are text-based, banners, buttons pop-ups, and page sponsorships.

Most individuals see some type of advertising more than others. I usually notice pop-ups and banners more than other types of advertising, but thats just me.

Required Reading

I just recently read an article about Yahoo's Green Challenge. In the article it talks about how Yahoo is launching a web-site for individuals to create less carbon-dioxide gases. Also in the article the company is having a contest to find the greenest city and the winning city will receive 10 hybrid cars donated to them for their efforts. Their mission is to try to stop global warming and I feel this is a great step in the right direction. Does anyone else have any thoughts of what Yahoo is trying to achieve?

Commenting of Ryan Isbert's Blog

I just read up on Ryan's blog about Myspace and I would have to agree with him about how the trends in online sites seem to be growing more and more in relation to consumer-consumer communication. Most of my friends are users and are driven by the opportunity of having a audio/video page about themselves.

Stiuqxela Entry

Recently are class has blogged a word called stiuqxela as a experiment on google word search. This is a contest between both of Mr. Brown's classes and the winner well help save the lives of horses around the country.

Commenting on Jessica's Blog

Jessica recently wrote about a discussion we had in class about digg.com, and after reading her post I found it very interesting how much gas prices has gone up over the year. Gas is hard to find under $3 per gallon today and I do have to agree with her about maybe buying a hybrid car in the near future.

By going to digg.com you can find all the latest stories and updates around the world.

2nd Wikipedia Edit on Rhema Mcknight

I just edited/added to Rhema Mcknight's wikipedia article for the second time. Stating "There were very high expectations for the very talented receiver coming out of high school, but McKnight lived up to the hype being one of Brady Quinn's favorite targets.

Class Material

We recently discussed about primary reseach. According to Conducting Primary Research website, "Primary research involves collecting data about a given subject directly from the real world".

1st Comment on Jessica Williams blog

Recently Jessica posted a comment about phishing. Phishing refers to the act of gaining sensitive data from a user by sending the individual an e-mail that request an update to an account of a legitimate web-site or a trusted source.

It is funny but I use PNC outline to check my account all the time, and only about a week ago did i have to enter more passwords to get into my account. I think it can be annoying, but it is a more effective way of preventing others from getting into my account.

2nd Post from "Required Blogs List"

On March 16, in the ClickZNews, an ariticle was posted about a re-launch of two websites about Disney that are specifically geared toward mothers. These sites, which are called Disney.com and Family.com, will now provide information with questions and concerns that parents might have about Disney. This is a new advertising method to promote Disney that they hope will be beneficial in the future.
